CHURCH HISTORY

In 1980, a small group in Big Bear asked Pastor Don Mc Clure of Calvary Chapel Lake Arrowhead to teach a mid week Bible study.  Don soon moved to begin the ministry that became Calvary Chapel of Redlands.  As things began to develop in Redlands, Don contacted Mike Ugartechea who had a full time job with a construction company but was a gifted Bible teacher and faithful servant.  Mike led the study and saw the Lord begin to add to the little flock.  Soon it seemed that meeting on Sunday mornings was a natural extension of the ministry the Lord was raising up.  At that time the Lord was stirring Mike Fulmer who was serving as a youth pastor with CC Redlands.  After meeting with Don Mc Clure and Mike Ugartechea the Lord opened the door for Mike to begin leading the fellowship in February of 1981.  The church met in the Bear Valley Park and Recreation building in Bear City Park for a few years as the Lord gently added to the body.  As the ministry outgrew the park building the Lord provided a facility in the Moonridge Triangle Complex which served the body well for a number of years.  When that spot became too restricted the Lord opened the way for the present location.
