Letters from the Tobey Family
9 December 1999
Subject: Thanksgiving Praise
We got another e-mail I wanted to share with you. It is from a Ph.D. student whose husband is not yet a believer. She has been a Christian
for about a year, and hungry for the Lord and His word! She wanted to be home in the evening when her husband is off, so Donna meets with her
during the day.
During Thanksgiving Dinner, our tradition is to pass a candle around, and
each person tells of one thing they are thankful for in the past year. She expressed thanks for her salvation, and the opportunity to
come to the US to hear the gospel. Later her husband came up to Donna to thank her
for doing Bible Study with his wife.
This is what she wrote the next day:

Dear Bob and Donna:
Thank you and your family so much for the thanksgiving dinner last night.
I can see how God blessed your family.I said to my husband:" You always ask where the
God is, how can you see him. Now in Bob's home, can't you see yet? It is a living witness that if you obey God's law, you
and your family will be blessed." I was also moved by several things: There is not too much space
in your house, but apparently you tried your best to treat so many of us.
Many very rich people have hugh house, but they won't spend anything in treating students. You served us all kinds of food for which I believe
you have prepared for a long time. You have wonderful kids, which is a gift from
God. I really love your family. I ask in my heart what I can do for you.
I think the only thing I can do is to pray God give you enough strength and love
to serve God and people, because God himself then will give everything you need.
God bless you.
H. Q.
Thank you for praying for this event! Thank you for praying that they would see Jesus in us and be attracted to Him. Thank you for making a
difference in eternity through your prayers and gifts!
In His Warm Embrace,
Bob
P.S. They will be going to a Chinese Christian Conference over the Christmas break. Pray that God would meet them, and draw him to
Himself.
