Meet CCH's Assisting Pastors
image of Ed and Cathy Arcalas

Pastor Ed Arcalas is CCH's Administrative Pastor as well as the Principal of Calvary Chapel Christian School. He has been on staff since 1992, the year he was ordained.

Ed's first ministry at CCH was serving in the Nursery with his wife, Cathy. Since then, he has overseen the Youth Ministry, served in Administration, and been a Bible College Instructor.

Ed & Cathy have three sons: Benji, Sam, and Nico. In his free time, Ed enjoys kicking back with his family and "keeping up with all their activities."

Favorite Verse: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33).

image of James and Deedee Markwith

Pastor James Markwith serves as an Assisting Pastor overseeing the Church Body Ministries, the Berean Hour Classes, and the Men's Ministry. He also teaches at the Mid-Week Bible Study on Wednesday nights. James has been on staff since 2005, having been ordained in 1999.

James & Deedee and their family left Hawaii a while back to pioneer a church in Cherokee, Iowa. He served there for approximately six years, before turning the fellowship over and returning to Hawaii.

Since his first turn at ministry as an Usher, James has served as a Home Fellowship leader, Children's Ministry leader, and overseer of CCH's ministry at the River of Life Mission.

James & Deedee have five children: Joshua, Zachary, Brittney, Brandee, and Caleb. James enjoys his time off with his family and playing a variety of sports.

Favorite Verse: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us" (Ephesians 3:20).

 

image of Joe and Ann Hurst

Pastor Joe Hurst is the Worship Pastor, along with also serving as Marriage Counselor, Facility Manager, and Maintenance Director. He has been on staff here since 2004, and was ordained in 1996.

Joe & Ann served in Russia, where they pioneered a church in Nizhny Novgorod - one of the largest Calvary Chapels in that part of the world. Joe also served as a worship leader in Kona and pastored a CC in Federal Way, Seattle, WA. His first ministry here at CCH was "cleaning bathrooms."

Joe & Ann have one daughter, Alia Ann. Joe likes to spend his free time with his family relaxing, teaching Alia Ann guitar, going to the park or to the beach, to fish for his saltwater aquarium.

Favorite Verse: "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things passed away: behold, new things have come" (II Corinthians 5:17).

image of Jake and Dorida O'Neill

Pastor Jake O'Neill is the Manager of KLHT Radio and oversees the College & Beyond Fellowship. Jake has been on staff since 2001 and was ordained in 2003.

Since his first turn at ministry operating the espresso machine at the Cornerstone Cafe, Jake has served as a Home Fellowship leader, Youth Pastor, and Bible College Instructor. He has been involved in our outreach to the homeless and took part in a short-term mission to Poland.

Jake and his wife, Dorida, enjoy their time off just kicking back together, having extended "quiet times," and surfing when the waves are good.

Favorite Verse: "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You" (Isaiah 26:3).
