ICM of Russia was established in 1991. Pastor Dan Finfrock began taking trips into Russia before the fall of Communism. He met with underground pastors and Christian leaders. In March of 1992, he began conducting Inductive Bible study seminars for these leaders in various locations throughout Russia. There was a tremendous response to this training and the hunger to study God's Word was great.

In May of 1992, Pastor Dan was to conduct a seminar in Petrozavodsk. His translators failed to show up and it created quite a dilemma. After much prayer, a young man was pointed out from the seminar participants that could speak good English. We spoke with him about translating, but he had little confidence in himself. After more prayer and persuasion, he agreed to help us. The small group he came with laid hands on him and were in prayer throughout the conference. This young man turned out to be a very good translator and before the conference was over, we hired him for full time work with Intensive Care Ministries.

Igor Prokopiev had just been married for three months when we first met him. He had been a Christian for only 1 year, but was so hungry to grow in Christ. As he translated in that first seminar, he frequently would interrupt with a hallaluah, praise God! He was so excited about what he was learning through God's Word, that it was all he could do to compose himself.

Since that time, Igor and his wife Olga have continued to grow strong in Christ. Igor was appointed as our Field Director for Russia in 1993. He and Olga continue to serve ICM through the conducting of Inductive Bible study seminars throughout Russia and the CIS.
